Welcome!

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I am also affiliated with the Global Cybersecurity Institute at RIT and the University of Washington Bothell (UWB). Before joining RIT, I worked as an Assistant Professor at the UWB for four years (from 2019 to 2023). Prior to this role, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) for two and a half years (from 2017 to 2019) under the supervision of Prof. Rob A. Rutenbar. From 2016 to 2017, I worked at the Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center (ISRC), Seoul National University (SNU), as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. I received Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from SNU, in 2016, 2012, and 2010, respectively, under the guidance of Prof. Hyuk-Jae Lee. My research interest is in the design of cryptographic hardware, focusing on custom hardware accelerators of homomorphic encryption primitives using FPGAs and heterogeneous computing platforms. Additionally, I explore privacy-preserving applications in embedded/cyber-physical systems as well as the design of approximate computing hardware.
